The Roosevelt Neighborhood Association (RNA) is pleased to host an evening with Roosevelt Alumni for Racial Equity (RARE), Monday, December 6th at 7:00 PM via Zoom. The meeting will introduce RARE and explore possible potential collaboration between the two organizations and with Roosevelt High School. HkwauaQueJol “Q” Hollins, Principal, Roosevelt High School will also attend for a brief introduction.
After the excitement of the station opening, by some accounts, Roosevelt is the model urban village for Seattle. It feels good. Are we ready for all of our new neighbors, for the opportunities and challenges which come with rapid growth and diversification?
RARE is dedicated to promoting racial equity by contributing to a deeper understanding of systemic racism and racial justice. In its short history RARE has had powerful impact organizing and facilitating important discussions around racial equity focused on the high school community. RARE enjoys strong support from Roosevelt High School administration, Seattle Public Schools and School Board. RARE’s vision includes engagement with the community, and so here is the RNA connection.
The RNA’s mission is to facilitate efforts to achieve an equitable, happy, and forward-looking Roosevelt. Inclusivity and Equity are part of the RNA’s stated values. The opportunity to partner with RARE is not only directly tied to the Roosevelt neighborhood but the RNA’s mission and values.
HkwauaQueJol “Q” Hollins is the new Principal of Roosevelt High School in 2021, and also an alum. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet new leadership at Roosevelt High School.
We hope you will join us for this discussion with Roosevelt Alumni for Racial Equity (RARE). Register for the December 6th virtual meeting above.
Thank you for your interest and engagement around this important topic.
